Food A-Z

Food recommendations on this list come from knowledge of the properties of Carctol and over a quarter of a century of experience with it. There may be foods on the list that fall outside the acid / alkaline classifications.

Taking Carctol

Taking CarctolCarctol can be taken by sufferers of any type of cancer except ascitic cancer. The testimonies on this site and in the press seem to show that it can aid people with different diagnoses and illnesses.

It has also been beneficial to those wishing to prevent cancer, for the protection of smokers, for the treatment of those with whooping cough, difficulty in swallowing, appetite loss, menstrual disorders and liver damage due to alcohol.

To find out if Carctol could be beneficial to you, we advise that it is taken for a trial period of two months.

There is a strict diet for patients on Carctol. This site includes a list of foods that can be eaten and detailed instructions on how Carctol should be taken, as well as what should be avoided.

The reason for this diet is based in the need to keep the body from becoming too acidic.

If the body’s pH is too acidic, a person’s health can be affected and they are more likely to be vulnerable to certain diseases.

A balanced diet should contain more alkali foods with the ideal ratio at about 75 per cent alkali to 25 per cent acid.

Test your body's pH

To test your body's pH, simply purchase some litmus paper - you should be able to do so from your chemist, and put it on your tongue before measuring the colour against the chart.

You should be aiming for a pH level of 7.5 (tested on saliva).

Confusion over alkali and acid forming foods

Some foods may normally be acidic and others alkali but are often said to form their opposites when digested.

This is due to their ‘ash’, in other words the minerals they leave once digested. This does not depend on how they taste or appear to us.

Confusion over alkali and acid forming foodsFurthermore, lemons and tomatoes are often cited as being alkali-forming foods as they are said to produce an overall alkali effect in the body.

The usual test for this categorization is to burn the food, thereby producing what would remain after the body had ‘burned’ the food. The resulting ash is placed in a solution, whose pH level is tested. A lemon will produce an alkali solution and is thus more often than not classified as an alkali-forming food.

However, the test does not accurately recreate the digestion of the body and the natural sugars in the lemon are not burned and this incomplete process forms acid.

The body buffers this acid with its reserves of alkali. If these reserves are continually used up, the body’s tissues become progressively more acidic.
